Here’s Your Perfect 2021 New Year’s Resolution: Call Marilyn Waller

For more than a decade, Marilyn Waller has been one of the most influential people in my life. I met her through Strategic Coach, a coaching program for successful entrepreneurs, where she has been a team member for 24 years, coaching the coaches there to make them great at what they do.
She has counselled and coached thousands of entrepreneurs about business, personal, and spiritual matters. She has worked with many very successful people, worldwide, in many different industries, and she has become very astute at knowing what to listen for, and what questions to ask.
What she does better than anyone else I know is “get to the heart of the matter”. Her book on empowerment, “Trust Your Self: Take Back Your Power — Experience the True Joy of Being Alive,” supports people in expanding our awareness and consciousness of the magnificence and joy of being a human being. Our expanded awareness that results in the process of discovering our power to make our own choices and life decisions is the source of our freedom and well-being. The world then becomes a world of possibilities, waiting for us to create and discover our path and our purpose.
Marilyn is an exceptional listener. She practices what is known in the coaching community as “generous listening.” Distinct from judgmental or binary listening generous listening is listening with understanding and curiosity. “It’s listening for what the deep message is,” she told me recently. “Then I can intuitively ask questions. I listen to people, ask questions, and provide a space for them to come to their own truth for themselves in the process. It is a process of Self-Discovery.
It sounds easy enough, but it takes a talented person to master this process. Why do people often fail to get to the heart of the matter in their own lives? The biggest reason is that they try to figure it out all by themselves. We tell ourselves “I can solve it.” As human beings we generally want to be strong and self-reliant. I’m like that, I know. However there comes a time when it’s much more useful to have a conversation with someone else, someone what can lead you in a process of discovery.
Why? Having a partner to communicate with goes a long way toward helping you determine what you’re looking for or trying to solve. “It can be very useful to hear yourself thinking and speaking when you’re in a conversation with somebody — particularly if it’s with someone who’s totally present and can provide the space for you, says Marilyn.
Gaining back a sense of our own self-awareness can be truly life changing. Once we do that, we are empowered to face the really challenging questions about what we want: How do I want to create my life?” What do I want to contribute to others? What’s really my passion? Does my Inner Purpose, awareness and higher consciousness, match my Outer Purpose? What am creating and contributing to in the work I am doing?
Marilyn’s way of being with you works for all kinds of issues, whether they are personal or business-related. This is not uncharted territory for her. She earned a Master’s degree in psychology and wrote her thesis on wholistic thinking and creating High Trust organizations. She soon realized that her passion is inspiring and empowering others — helping people discover who they really are, and be in touch with their inner, self-realized power.
This has been her focus ever since. Marilyn does not use techniques. She is totally present with you and when she is in a conversation you have her total open, tuned-in focus on you. You always have the space with her to listen to your inner wisdom and to be in a discovery process to access your essential truth and desires. Her process works for many challenges.
Recently, she said that she had several conversations with an entrepreneur. As a result of her coaching, he attracted a very successful businessperson to partner with. Because of that partnership, he was able to expand his business exponentially. He said that it would not have happened if she had not had that conversation with him.
Marilyn did what she does best: she listened, asked the right questions, and saw the bigger picture.
